Reiki for Anxiety - whats the connection?
Reiki is a form of energy healing that’s been in existence for over a century, and something that’s been popping into the self help world for quite some time. I’d never heard about it until about a year ago, when I dove into the world of energies and having purchased my 834th book about it. The multitude of layers of information held in our body within our chakras blew my mind. The narrative in our heads we basically live by due to our subconscious blocks changed my life. Pranayama, breathwork and healing has saved me in times of despair. When I saw the ad for “become an energy healer” in the local newsletter (i’m not kidding), I signed up. and my reiki journey began.
ABOUT REIKI
Rei - the Japanese word for “Higher Power” and Ki - the Japanese word of “life force energy”. Reiki allows the flow of positive universal life energy to you. I’ve worked with people who’s internal conflicts have manifested into physical pain. Reiki allows the unveiling of some deep rooted shit. It disrupts the stagnant energy we’ve been holding on for so long. It takes you to a place of peace, of calm, of connection within.
A LITTLE ABOUT ANXIETY
We are all very away that anxiety is the body’s physical reaction and natural response to stress. It’s a feeling of fear or concern of what is to come. Everyone feels it differently, in different parts of their body. It might be butterflies, it might be a headache, might be pain in your stomach or neck. As we know, being busy is a label of honor. Fast paced is the way society is manufactured. Striving to keep up with everything can cause stress, blockages and yup, you got it, anxiety
Symptoms include
increased heart rate
rapid breathing
restlessness
trouble concentrating
difficulty falling asleep
powerful negative thoughts
feeling of losing sense of control

What happens in a reiki session?
When you are in a reiki session, someone who has been attuned to the powerful healing energy of the universe (I know, stay with me) sends that energy to you, through them. You lay on a comfortable bed, soothing music in the background, crystals & essential oils tend to be involved. A serene, calming and respectful environment can sometimes be just enough to let got of that backpack of crap you’ve been carrying around for too long.
Reiki is the loving universal force and can be sent to a specific point of the body that is in pain. It can help bring up a block you have about money or love to the surface. It can be as simple as calming you down so much you relax and maybe fall asleep for the first time in weeks.
In a reiki session, you feel a connection to inner peace. When we let go of anxiety for several minutes, our mind rewires itself. We cant get to where we want to go in an anxious state. We must be in an energetic vibration to what we want, and to do that, we must calm the mind and body.
We are given the permission and safe space to let go of what isn’t serving us. We can let go of the narrative our head has been telling us for years. We can connect to our true selves, to live our lives according to our best interest. This self help stuff is where its at.
Side note: I’m not guaranteeing you that a reiki session with give you a stress free life, a perfectly healthy body or the magical dream relationship. This is usually a first step into just feeling better. Healing. Energetically aligning yourself with the calm, peaceful you that is so deeply hidden underneath years of bullshit programming and ego driven thoughts and subsequently, anxiety.
Universal life energy, Higher Power, God, whatever you want to call it, has our back and wants us to succeed. To feel good. To be connected to our natural state of peace and well-being. Reiki is the natural process that facilitates internal balance and supports that healing.
